Hey all.
The just concluded Zone 10 Footdrill Competition hasn't entirely been a happy affair for us. NO awards, no nothing.
I shall be straightforward with all. Yesterday, I received news and I am sad to say that the last position belong to us. Position 6th out of 6 teams that took part. Most of you reading this post would be probably wondering 'How?'. This result may come as a surprise to some of you, or to others, the last position for us has already been predicted.
I can't hide my disappointment from you all too.
I realised that if this was the kind of the evaluation the judge has given us, he definitely has his reasons and well, we cannot do anything but to accept it.
Then again, its heartening to see how all of you come through the practice sessions and outperformed yourself, exceeded expectations of the officers, the NCOs to complete the task to 'show a different standard' of yourself before and after the competition.
I know many of you might attribute our failure to the last minute trainings and not being able to settle on a finalised footdrill team coupled with sudden amendments of names.
Maybe we could have done better in this aspect and no doubt, this serves as a learning point to all- even the next footdrill competition members, that efficiency does matter, a lot.
2 years later, it all depends on what you want to achieve for yourself, the hunger for an achievement. When you have self-belief, nothing is impossible and surely, with ample practice and discipline, success will come soon for us during FDC in 2010.
To all cadets who were a part of the contingent, you guys were great and even when the chips were down, you put in a wholehearted effort. I would like you guys to remember that:
Failure is not about going home with nothing; it is the part where you pick yourself up and move on.
AND
Winning isn't everything, because it just comes as a PROPER recognition of the efforts put in.
Thanks and all the best.
