Camp info

Regarding tmr's camp, the reporting time is 8am at the track. For NCOs, report at 7am for a meeting.

Please bring all the essential items listed in the packing list in either a haversack or a bag big enough to fit them and do not bring any unauthorised items to camp.
Remember to bring an EXTRA backpack too.

The camp will last for 4 days 3 nights and we will probably reach school on sunday at around 2pm.

For those who have special medication to take, do bring them to camp and take them regularly.

If you have any doubts, do ask your NCOs.

Thanks

Words After the Competition (Desmond)

Hey all.

The just concluded Zone 10 Footdrill Competition hasn't entirely been a happy affair for us. NO awards, no nothing.

I shall be straightforward with all. Yesterday, I received news and I am sad to say that the last position belong to us. Position 6th out of 6 teams that took part. Most of you reading this post would be probably wondering 'How?'. This result may come as a surprise to some of you, or to others, the last position for us has already been predicted.

I can't hide my disappointment from you all too.
I realised that if this was the kind of the evaluation the judge has given us, he definitely has his reasons and well, we cannot do anything but to accept it.

Then again, its heartening to see how all of you come through the practice sessions and outperformed yourself, exceeded expectations of the officers, the NCOs to complete the task to 'show a different standard' of yourself before and after the competition.

I know many of you might attribute our failure to the last minute trainings and not being able to settle on a finalised footdrill team coupled with sudden amendments of names.
Maybe we could have done better in this aspect and no doubt, this serves as a learning point to all- even the next footdrill competition members, that efficiency does matter, a lot.

2 years later, it all depends on what you want to achieve for yourself, the hunger for an achievement. When you have self-belief, nothing is impossible and surely, with ample practice and discipline, success will come soon for us during FDC in 2010.

To all cadets who were a part of the contingent, you guys were great and even when the chips were down, you put in a wholehearted effort. I would like you guys to remember that:

Failure is not about going home with nothing; it is the part where you pick yourself up and move on.

AND

Winning isn't everything, because it just comes as a PROPER recognition of the efforts put in.

Thanks and all the best.

Words After the Competition (Bertinus Sir)

FDC is finally over. A job well done to all involved. Your drills have definitely improved tremendously over the course of the past few weeks. Of course I was disappointed by the results as well. We honestly thought that you were better than MSHS, but we’ll just leave it at that…

I especially want to congratulate those who turned up for every training the past week. More specifically Desmond and Shi Min who have been present for every training trying to encourage and motivate all the cadets. Once again good job and have a great school holiday.

Bertinus Sir.

Words Before the Competition

Hey all!

The big day's here tmr. We'd be up against 5 other schools, and obviously the competition is tough. Some of you may still be lacking the belief that we can get something from this competition and that we can't even compete with the rest.
You gotta get rid of the mindset.

We go into competition, we do our sequence, put in our best efforts. NO matter what the result might be, it's all but secondary. We can still hold our heads high with pride and say, look, we all gave our best shot and there's not a single thing worth regretting.

Just because the stereotype of other schools having better standards should not be the factor of us not putting in even more effort. An even stronger motivation should be cultivated among us instead.

Good luck for tmr, be alert, focus and whatever you do, do your 'bestest' best. (:

Thanks.

FDC 2008

Dates for FDC trainings

The following are the remaining dates for FDC trainings, serving as a reminder to all in the contingent.

- 17th Nov 08, Monday (9am - 1pm, Full u)
- 18th Nov 08, Tuesday (2pm - 6pm, Half u)
- 19th Nov 08, Wednesday (9am - 1pm, Half u)
- 20th Nov 08, Thursday (9am - 1pm, Full u)

The attendence is disgustingly bad and not the least encouraging at all. You people are taking part in this competition as a contingent, not as individuals. Don't expect to skip trainings just because you think it doesn't matter whatsoever and treat our phone calls as inconveniences.

Catholic High is not participating in this bi-annual competition just for the sake of making up the numbers there. We are there to at least deliver an award winning performance and show other corps that we have the standard to be at the top. With such poor attitude and attendence, do you guys seriously expect others to have high regard for us? Its more like they'd underestimate us.

So please guys, get you act together fast. You don't need NCOs to send an invitation to you personally to invite you down for trainings, especially with so little time left.

And the officers are watching you. Buck up, cadets..
